Russia and Indonesia began preliminary consultations on the provision of Russian submarines of the project 636 Varshavianka, communicated the director for cooperation and regional policy of the Russian Corporation, Victor Kladov.

He said that Indonesia shows great interest in the development of military-technical cooperation with Russia and the parties already cooperate in three areas: the army, the Airforce and the Navy.
Varshavianka class submersibles are third generation, have a crew of 52 people, displace 3,950 tons, can sail at a speed of up to 20 knots and go down to 300 meters deep.
