Procure AAR & AEW&C aircrafts While Indonesia is focusing on the last phase of its MEF plan, several issues are hampering procurement process of what is considered as force multipliers. In our 39th edition of Archipelago Monitor, we decided to focus on Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) project to procure AAR and AEW&C aircrafts.

While these assets are less shinny than combat aircrafts, they are the real force multipliers of modern Air Power. We argue that local lobbies and power struggles have affected the roadmap of major actors such as Boeing and Saab, while budget constraints further complicate the process.

Additionally, this edition of Archipelago Monitor also discusses the recent concerns related to the narrative displayed during Indonesia’s disaster management, as well as the controversy regarding President Widodo’s call for criticism.
