At the meeting that took place at the Jakarta Convention Center, President Joko Widodo called for closer cooperation between the two nations in the fields of trade and investment.
The two leaders discussed opening a market for Indonesian products, particularly chemical and pharmaceutical products, in Bangladesh.
In addition, Jokowi urged Bangladesh to give market access to other Indonesian products, including paper, palm oil, coal, motor vehicle, electrical appliances, and main armament systems.
He also invited Bangladeshi businessmen to invest in Indonesian business sectors, including in the fields of infrastructure and transportation, which are still widely open.
Bangladesh has a variety of investment interests in Indonesia, such as in garment and motor vehicle industries.
Indonesia is the sixth-largest trade partner of Bangladesh, which is the worlds eighth most populous nation.
Prime Minister Sheik Hasina was among the heads of states/governments who held bilateral talks with President Joko Widodo on the sidelines of the summit on Thursday.
The other heads of states/governments were Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan O. Cha, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, King of Swaziland Mswati III, President of Madagascar Rajonarimampianina Hery, Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, Nepali Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, and Vietnamese President Truong Tang Sang.(*)
